Great Chile Total Eclipse & Giant Telescopes

June 22 - July 4, 2019

Cerro Tololo
Daniel Thorpe

Nowhere on earth is there a place more suitable for powerful astronomical ground-based observatories than Chile. The dry air of the Atacama Desert and the flat land and high mountains offer the perfect place for building these giant telescopes. Here is the center of the galaxy with the Milky Way so distinct it looks like a gossamer ribbon weaving its way past the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds, the Southern Cross and in 2019 the total eclipse of the Sun.

There will be visits to cultural sites, including the meteorite museum, El Tatio Geysers and wine tasting. The VIP team of astronomy experts will offer their expertise. No background in science is expected.
